Everything you need to know about hospitals, clinics, doctors, and medical services in White Rock and South Surrey.
Primary Hospital
Peace Arch Hospital (PAH) is the main hospital serving White Rock and South Surrey. Located at 15521 Russell Avenue in White Rock, it is part of the Fraser Health Authority and has served the community since 1954.
The hospital provides a wide range of services including a 24/7 emergency department, surgical services, maternity and obstetrics, diagnostic imaging (X-ray, CT, ultrasound), laboratory services, and inpatient care across medical and surgical wards.
While PAH handles most routine emergencies and medical needs, it is important to understand its limitations. It is not a trauma centre; serious trauma cases are transferred to Surrey Memorial Hospital or Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. Complex cardiac, neurological, and cancer care is also typically referred to larger regional centres.
The Peace Arch Hospital Foundation actively fundraises for equipment upgrades and facility improvements, and the hospital has undergone significant renovations in recent years to modernize its facilities and expand capacity.
Walk-In Care
When you need medical attention but it is not an emergency, walk-in clinics provide same-day access to a doctor. White Rock and South Surrey have several options.

Primary Care
Like much of British Columbia, White Rock and South Surrey face a significant shortage of family physicians. Many existing GPs have full patient rosters and are not accepting new patients. This is a province-wide challenge driven by physician retirements, population growth, and the economics of family medicine.
For new residents, finding a family doctor can take months or even longer. In the meantime, walk-in clinics and virtual care options fill the gap, but they lack the continuity of a dedicated family physician.
BC's Health Connect Registry is the official provincial system for matching patients with family doctors. Register online through the BC government website and you will be contacted when a doctor becomes available in your area.

Some specialist services are available locally, but many require travelling to Surrey or Vancouver. Here is what to expect.
